| Away Report: | Well another close run thing, with the Bourne Club coming off best in sets but worst in matches. Dave gave Bedford a tough start and while the 3 - 0 score suggests a one sided game it was anything but. Derek was unable to see off Marc's young legs, and while he stemmed the flow of scampering feet somewhat in the second, he eventually ran out of legs himself. He did have though, a rather fetching accent! Next up was the near anorexic like Vaughan who comprehensively ate up a well built cheeseburger called James. The heavy burgers and pizzas, were no match for the slimline tonics and diet cokes of the Bourne No.3 and Vaughan came through a comfortable winner. At first string Gary was out of the traps as quick as a turtle on a beach. He eventually made it back to the waterline, after a bit of a struggle, but only with the help of some dodgy marking, albeit in his favour, from the fetching accent. Eric was gifted the first by a somewhat out of touch Alex, which was very sporting - no doubt in deference to the near 20 year age gap - what a fine fellow. There were not many long rallies in this game - never are when Eric is on court - and after a see saw match Eric ran out the winner in 5. Nice club, nice bunch of guys, and a very nice result. Thanks Bourne. Lousy trip though!!! |
